I am so pleased to welcome you to Gregg Anderson School, the newest school in the Westside Union School District. Gregg Anderson is a school of choice and all students will be selected through an application and lottery process.

Our goal is to teach the state standards with a focus on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) and AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) strategies.

As our students will be selected in February 2012, we hope to form committees to choose our uniforms and school mascot/colors. We will also need to create a Parent Support Organization. If interested in serving on one of these committees, email s.dearinger@westside.k12.ca.us.

Our school is named in honor of Mr. Gregg Anderson who was the Developer of Rancho Vista developing the first master-planned community in the Antelope Valley. Mr. Gregg Anderson was a longtime benefactor to our school district contributing to school libraries, reading programs, and field trips.

Our school will open in August, 2012 as a kindergarten through 6th grade site with the addition of all (K-8) Westside District Severely Handicapped (SH) Classes. Our SH classes will have a modern up to date facility including a kitchen, Adapted Physical Education and Occupational Therapy rooms, and other specialized services to create independency.

Our highly qualified certificated and classified staff, students, parents, and community all work together as a team to provide the best education possible for our students.

Together, we will make Gregg Anderson a school of which we are PROUD.
