Dear Westside Parents and Community Members,

We have now completed our first 3 weeks of the school year, and again, I thank you and our staff for your patience and understanding as we continue to conduct our classes online. As you are no doubt aware, again the process of containing COVID-19 in California and Los Angeles County are undergoing changes, which will likely impact our return to face-to-face instruction. We are doing our best to stay abreast of the changes as they occur, and we appreciate your cooperation throughout this ever-changing process.

The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees is scheduled for Tuesday, September 1st with the public session beginning at 6 p.m. The agenda will include presentations to some of our retirees, a school presentation from the staff at Del Sur School, and the presentation of our Learning Continuity and Attendance Plan. Information about the meeting can be found on the Board’s section of our website at Please look to the Board Meeting and agenda subsections for a copy of the agenda as well as the online address for the meeting.

This past week we held our Superintendent’s Advisory Committee meetings and our District English Learner Advisory Committee meeting. We appreciate all who attended these meetings and provided valuable input to our Learning Continuity and Attendance Plan. That plan will be presented to the Board of Trustees at the September 1st meeting, and a public hearing to receive additional input will be held during the meeting as well.

PowerSchool Parent Account & Back To School Registration --

For parents of returning students from last school year, if you have not already done so, please log on to your PowerSchool Parent Account to update your information, your emergency contacts, student medical information and review the Parents Rights & Responsibilities, required annually by the State of California. Our new online system replaces the traditional paper 1st Day Student Packets you have completed in prior years. All parents of returning students must update this information annually.

If you do not already have a PowerSchool Parent Account, please follow the instructions posted on the PowerSchool Parent portal page, After you've created your account, simply log on and select the 'Back to School Registration' link and follow the directions to update you and your child's information.

For parents of students who are new to Westside Union School District this school year, please create your PowerSchool Parent Account if you have not already done so. You do not need to complete the Back To School Registration, as you've recently completed this information for them during enrollment. The Back To School Registration is only for returning students.

If you need help, please submit a Let's Talk message, selecting the category PowerSchool Parent Account. Be sure to include your information as well as your child's name, birthdate and school.

Upcoming School Schedule Changes

8/31 -- minimum day, classes will end 1 hour earlier than on our regular day schedule.

9/7 -- Labor Day Holiday, no school, enjoy your day off.
