Health Services
The department of Health Services within Education Services provides health and medical support as they relate to education in the following areas:
- Health Screenings ~ Vision, hearing, scoliosis, color vision
- Safe Environment for Individuals with Exceptional Needs
- First Aid ~ Acute and emergency care for all students and staff
- Medication Administration and Monitoring
- Home / Hospital Instruction for students unable to attend classes on campus due to medical reasons
- Immunization Surveillance
- Health Assessments for Special Education placement
- Case Management of Students with Medical / Health Needs
Health and Wellness Education
- Well Student and Puberty Health Education
- Health Counseling
- Classroom Health Teaching / Consultation
Environmental Health
- Communicable Disease Surveillance ~ prevention of disease and infection control
- Disaster Preparedness and Crisis Intervention
- Safety Awareness
- Safe School Environment
Health Services staff include school nurses, Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs), and health clerks working on every campus in our district. School nurses also work with Special Education aides (from the Department of Student Support Services) who are trained and supervised to deliver special health care procedures to students who require medical assistance in order to access education.
Health Services staff work with, and under the direction of the Health Services Coordinator and the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services.
