Foster Youth Education

Westside Union School District is dedicated to supporting students in the foster care system. At WUSD, we recognize that students in the foster care system may need additional support in obtaining resources and accessing academic support, social/emotional care, and college/career guidance. We provide this support through a collaborative approach between families, administration, and school counselors. Additionally, school counselors:

  • Link foster students and families with resources, events, and activities
  • Maintain consistent communication and collaborate with foster/biological family and community stakeholders (social workers, therapists, etc.)
  • Bridge communication between schools and/or district office during times of transitions
